AddictiveTips Now On Google+, Add Us To Your Circles!

Recently, we’ve been getting numerous requests for the creation of an AddictiveTips Google+ page. We’ve had a Google+ page for quite a while now, but it has, as yet, been inactive. However, in light of the recent flurry of requests by avid users of the growing social network, we’ve decided to, well, spread the addiction. Apple To Launch iTunes 8 along with iPods On Tuesday

Apple is having an event on 9th september, so there are spectaculations going that there will be launch of new iPod nano and iPod touch. At the same time I believe that Apple will release iTunes 8, because it is a perfect day to launch. If Apple had to launch iTunes, it would have done it already, its been 2 years since Apple launched iTunes 7, but Apple has been patient on iTunes this time, because Steve Jobs didn’t want this launch to go wrong just like MobileMe’s launch did.

What makes me believe that both new iPods and iTunes is launching

• Look at the picture above, you will see that Apple has used the same marketing technique this time, they always include signature silhouetted people used for marketing iPods. Which means new iPods are coming.
• Read the name “Let’s Rock” and think what makes us rock, does a movie makes us rock, does a game makes us rock, does taking videos and photos make us rock, only music makes us rock. So there is really something fishy in the event’s name. (I know this tip might sound absurd, but think again, who knows it could be true)
• I know that apart from music, Steve Jobs makes us rock, but Steve Jobs can’t launch himself because he is a human, not some electronic toy. (This point is just a joke)
• It’s been 2 years since iTunes 7 launched, don’t you think its time for Apple to launch iTunes 8, well I believe the time has finally come.
• It’s in San Francisco, why this city? Because when you show your product to guys and gals in San Fransico it is like showing it to the whole world. Which means Apple is trying to show something big to the world.

These points are just what I think, and I strongly believe in them. We can only wait till Tuesady and see what Steve Jobs have for us.

Using Time Mangagement Tool ‘RememberTheMilk’ Right From Your Desktop

As technology is evolving, our lives are getting busy in involving with it. We all want to do so many things in a single day just like I want to do several blog posts per day and at the same time, I want to keep some time for my offline world {friends and family}. But at the end of the day, when I look at my activities, I often get disappointed. This is where time management tools job come and they can be very handy in the process of planning one’s schedule. If you want to work efficiently, you have to remember the milk  . RTM is an online service and works from the browser. It may be comfortable for others but I prefer desktop widget over browser. We will make an account first, then with a little hack, we will be able to access RTM via desktop widget.

Making An Account:

1-First things first, make an account from here {Its free! as they say}.

2-After filling up your information, choosing date format, Tick on ‘I have read and accept the Terms of Use‘, Click on Signup. You will be sent to another page which says that a verification email has been sent to you and you have to click on the given link to verify your account {just like any other web service requires authentication, nothing special  }. Check your e-mail inbox and click on the link {In the meantime, login with your username and password to take an initial ride with RTM}.

3-Congrats! your RTM account is verified now. Login if you have not did it as in step 2.

4-You should be logging into your RTM account. But hey! what’s this popup? It is Gears security warning from Google gears. If you want to use RTM offline {It means that you can use it locally from the cache}, allow it(recommended) otherwise click on deny.

5-Yay! Finally here comes your RTM dashboard. Confused with all the options? RTM compiled a totalnewbie guide so you don’t have to worry about all the fuss. Now we can move to our objective. Lets get the RTM Desktop Widget!

Use RememberTheMilk As A Desktop Widget:

We can use the desktop widget with a little hack. So if you also want to use RTM from desktop, follow these steps.

1-Go to RTM Services Page. Here you will see a bunch of different RTM integration modules. There are two modules which you can use in order to get RTM on desktop which are iGoogle Gadget and Netvibes Module. I will choose Netvibes because I find it more comfortable to use then iGoogle Gadget. By the way, you can choose any one of your choice as the integration process is almost same.

2-Get the URL of Netvibes Module. We will be using it shortly.

3-Now come to your desktop and right click on any empty space. Click on Properties, It will open-up your display properties.

4-Go to ‘Desktop‘, then ‘Customize Desktop‘ and then ‘Web‘ Tab.  

5-Click on ‘New‘ button. Now enter the URL I gave in step 7 in the Location box. Click OK, Now it will show a confirmation box to add a widget. Click Ok and Ok and Ok.

6-Voila! Here comes your desktop widget. Login if prompted to do so, don’t worry about the options as you will become familiar with them soon…Now enjoy planning your time and never complain about time shortage again!

How To Sync Your Nokia Phone With Mac Easily Over Bluetooth

All Nokia devices supported by iSync can connect to your Mac through Bluetooth. However, selected Nokia device models can also be synchronized through a USB cable in addition to using Bluetooth. If iSync supports both Bluetooth and USB connections to your Nokia device, you can choose whichever connection method you prefer for the initial setup. Follow these simple steps to connect your Nokia Phone with you Mac.

Before you set up iSync, make sure that your Nokia device and your Mac are paired over Bluetooth.

Launch ISync

Launch the iSync application on your Mac. Navigate to Finder Menu > Go > Applications > iSync.

Add Device

Select Add Device from the iSync menu, then chose your Nokia device from the list.

Sync Your Data

You may now sync your calendar and contact info.

Pairing Your Phone With Mac

To pair your Nokia device with your Mac over Bluetooth, make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your Mac.

You will also need to turn on Bluetooth on your Nokia device. The settings can usually be located UnderConnect > Tools or Settings depending on your Nokia device.

On your Mac choose Set up Bluetooth Device from the Bluetooth item on the menu bar. If you do not see a Bluetooth item on the menu bar, go to System Preferences > Bluetooth > Devices and click Set Up New Device. The Bluetooth Setup Assistant  will now pen. Click Continue and select mobile phone as device type.

Now Mac will begin searching for mobile phones. When you see your Nokia device’s name on the list, select it and click Continue. Now your Mac will gather information about the Nokia device you selected. When it has completed, click Continue.

Your Nokia device should now ask for a passkey to connect to your Mac. Enter the passkey displayed on the dialogue box and accept the connection requests from your Nokia device.

Select the services you want to use with your device by checking the boxes. If you are using iSync or Nokia Multimedia Transfer, you have now finished pairing your Nokia device and Mac and may press Continue. You should see a confirmation message displayed on your Mac.
