Basically, SmallBanners takes away all the bells and whistles from your iDevice’s notifications, leaving them with just the bare essentials. A banner notification usually consists of three parts.
- The icon of the app to which the notification belongs.
- The name of the sender, or app.
- The actual message of the notification.
SmallBanners removes the second part (sender name) completely, while minimizing (and in some cases, completely removing) the app icon. The only part of the banner that remains the same is the actual message, and that makes perfect sense because that’s what a notification’s actual purpose is! This new minimalistic version of notification banners completely cover the status bar, but don’t stretch beyond that.
The tweak can be downloaded from the BigBoss repo in the Cydia store, where it is available as a free download. You can’t configure anything, as SmallBanners supports just one banner size, and that is applied to all notifications automatically as soon as you install the tweak to your iPhone.
